The first leg of the 2014 international campaign took place on July 26, 2014, in Mexico City. Dr. Hourani met with Mr. Aljandro Kuri Pheres, World President of the World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU), to discuss their continued cooperation under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was signed by previous WLCU World Presidents, as well as to discuss a new framework for cooperation suited especially for LDI. Special events designed by specialized liaison officers and other contacts of the Lebanese Emigration Research Center (LERC) proved to be effective for introducing the LDI.

Dr. Hourani presented LDI to the Lebanese community at a formal gathering held at the headquarters of the Lebanese Center (Centro Libanés) in Mexico. The President of the Center, Ricardo Kahwagi Rage, presided over the event, which many prominent Lebanese figures attended, including H. E. Ambassador Hicham Hamdan, H. E. Maronite Bishop George Saad Abi Younes, H. E. Former Ambassador of Lebanon Nouhad Mahmoud, members of parliament, political analysts, journalists, artists, academicians, heads of organizations among others.
